Abstract

Tree fern stems are described from the late Pennsylvanian of Athens County, Ohio in which the ground tissue has been replaced by coprolites. These are oval, 450 μm in maximum diameter, and consist of finely ground plant material. They probably represent faecal pellets of small arthropods and provide further evidence of animal-plant interactions in the late Palaeozoic.
