Giles Fletcher the younger: A biographical and critical study

Abstract

All references to Christ's Victory and Triumph are to Boas's edition (Giles and Phineas Fletcher, Poetical Works, Vol. I, ed. Frederick S. Boas, Cambridge, 1908.)I refer to the poems "Christ's Victory in Heaven", "Christ's Victory on Earth", "Christ's Triumph over Death", and Christ's Triumph after Death", as Books I, II, III, and IV respectively. I have modernised all titles with the exception of The Faerie Queene, hut in quotations I have kept the original spelling, except that I have substituted "v" for "u" and vice-versa, in accordance with modern usage, as that is Boas's method with the text of Christ's Victory and Triumph.
