The pieces are magnificats on each of the eight tones. The Isometron gives the first verse of the magnificat in each of the eight tones. The Primi Toni Magnificat contains a ‘Canon in subdyathessaron’, Secondi Toni Magnificat contains a ‘Canon in Diapazon’. The Tertij Toni Magnificat’s ‘Sicut erat in principio’ is in six parts with a ‘Canon Tu me Sequere in subdyapente’. The Sexti Toni Magnificat’s ‘Sicut erat in principio’ is in six parts. The Septimus Toni Magnificat’s ‘Sicut erat in principio’ has a ‘Canon in subdiathessaron’ in a cantus secundus part. The ‘Sicut erat in principio’ of the Octavi Toni Magnificat is a ‘Canon in diapenthe’.
