Abstract

1. Preparation and Bromination of p-Diphenylyl ketones. 2. Action of Grignard reagents on substituted and unsubstituted p-diphenylyl ketones, V-piperidinopropylphenylketone and N-methylcinchotoxine. 3. Preparation of 4:4-Diethoxy-2:2-bisdimethylamino-diphenyl. 1.p-Diphenylylketones of the type have been prepared by Friedel-Crafts reactions and their bromination has been studied. It has been found that under conditions for 100 % monobromination, 100 % bromination occurred entirely in the side chain. 2. The action of piperidine and diethylamine on halogen substituted p-diphenylyl ketones was studied. The action of Grignard reagents on p-diphenylyl ketones, w-piperidine substituted p-diphenylyl ketones, y-piperidinopropylphenyl ketone and N-methylcinchotoxine was studied in order to compare the effect of the distance apart of the nitrogen atom and the CO- group on the reactivity of the compound 3-4:4-Diethoxy-2:2-bis dimethylaminodiphenyl and several derivatives have been prepared and compared with 2:2-bisdimethylaminodiphenyl.
